Artie Lange Quits the Howard Stern Show

Today on the Howard Stern Show, Artie Lange got in a verbal argument with his personal assistant, Teddy. It escalated to to the point where Artie left his chair and attempted to hit Teddy. After a minute of cooling off Artie came back and started arguing with Howard and accused him of fanning the fire and provoking the attack. The end result was that Howard told Artie that he cannot be allowed to stay if he's going to hit people. Artie could not guarantee he could control himself and offered his resignation, which Howard quickly accepted.

For a long time Howard Stern fan this is great news although I have doubts it will be permanent. I think Artie will be back after the show takes a week's vacation. I have been listening to Howard for over 20 years and I would love to see Jackie Martling come back to the show. To me it's just not funny watching a guy self destruct on the air. I also don't like the way the dynamics of the show has changed since Jackie left. Jackie would wrote skits and song parodies, and during interviews would hand Howard funny lines and questions to ask the guests. It seemed like Jackie was very unselfish the material he wrote and didn't mind somebody else getting credit for his jokes.

With Artie all that seemed to change. When he decides to stay awake he interjects stupid little comments that are only meant to be self-serving. His only real purpose there is to promote his standup act, which is not that good to begin with (we saw him at the Borgata). The same can be said for those two idiots Sal Governale and Richard Christy. They don't ever write anything for Howard - they just do song parodies and make prank phone for Howard to play on the air. Didn't the Jerky Boys already do that?

For years a running gag on the show was for everybody to say "F- Jackie", but now I want to say " F- Artie" and bring back Jackie.
